Tobi Akinyemi
Tobi grew up in Abeokuta in Nigeria with weekend trips that shaped his eye: early mornings at the rock outcrops, roadside fruit stands, and long drives where the horizon changed from dense green to open savannah. His mother kept a small photo album of family journeys across Nigeria, and Tobi began repainting those memories as a teenager always chasing the same thing: light.
He studied environmental design, but found himself sketching outside lecture halls more than inside them. After graduation he traveled through the Middle Belt and the North Jos, Kaduna, Kano collecting textures: laterite dust, woven mats, tin roofs, river reflections, and the geometry of farmlands.
His work is a love letter to Nigeria's scale and variety: coastal humidity, savannah haze, highland cool, city bustler endered with soft washes and precise, intentional details.
